Invest in your community...

Until a year ago, I was a professional pianist, teacher,
and worked as an accompanist in the Music Department
at Furman University.  A sudden hearing loss has put a halt,
I hope temporarily, to that aspect of my life.

I have chosen to fall back on an old love:  photography.
And here's where Trillium comes in:
I found a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere.
Pedigree didn't seem to matter as much as competence.
Although my work is different from the current collection
(i.e. architectural and abstract), I feel my work has a good outlet here.
I encourage everyone to support Trillium: a great asset to our community!

"Although I've been living and writing in Travelers Rest for over thirty years,
I haven't felt part of a community of artists until recently.
Through its monthly "Poets in the Forest" program and other special events,
Trillium has provided authors of all ages with good fellowship
and a lively local audience  for their work.
Trillium is a great asset to upstate South Carolina."
-- Gil Allen, Furman professor and poet
Our community is full of artists, writers and
musicians who enrich our lives through
their work.
Trillium Arts Centre provides them with a
place to gather and exchange ideas, a
place to show and sell their work and an
opportunity to learn and further develop
their skills and talents.

I would like to take time to express my gratitude
for the support and encouragement from the wonderful people,
who make Trillium a great arts organization.
I have been a member for two years and I really appreciate that
Trillium is a place where artists can express their creativity
as they are so inspired. Trillium also provides space and opportunities for artist to
showcase their work, as well as community events that everyone can share. I am
proud to be a supporting member of Trillium.
--Terry Butler, multi-media artist

Living in the upstate, I feel Trillium offers myself and other local
artists a venue for promoting through our work the beauty and
diversity of the area. Both residents and tourists visit us daily to
view the artwork or to read the literature from the welcome center.

I believe Trillium has great potential to be a vital part of the
overall attraction of Traveler's Rest and the upstate.

"Trillium benefits its artist members primarily by providing opportunities to sell and exhibit work.
This organization is the only one of its kind locally which supports artists of such diversity.
Everyone from highly skilled woodworkers to outsider artists to nature photographers and just about
every type of artist in between benefit from the weal of such an organization. The community at large,
in turn, benefits from the exposure to a wide range of creative talent and this draws tourism
and commerce to our area.
An outsider artist myself, I have personally benefited from my relationship with Trillium.
Aside from fostering a great fellowship of artists and creative individuals, Trillium also hosts, yearly, our
regions largest outsider and folk art fair, which I enjoy being a part of."
--- James Phillip Anderson, outsider artist
